True North is the direction along the earth’s surface, towards the geographic North Pole.   Sometimes called the magnetic north, the direction of True North is marked by the skies of the north celestial pole, for all practical purposes this is the position of Polaris.

True North is also a flagship of Australia, a passenger yacht that cruises the West Coast of Australia, from Perth to Broome, The Solomons and Papua New Guinea. At 740 tons, the True North can be considered a ship, however, the crew refers to her as a boat. With a passenger limit of 36 and a crew of 20, their reputation for attention to detail and excellence in service is well earned!

True North is easy to navigate; the size ensures an immediate familiarity, which comes in handy for itineraries of shorter duration.  On board, the True North has it’s own Bell 407 helicopter, fully air conditioned with headsets that work!  Passengers can purchase a value-added helicopter package when booking, however, every passenger has one or two excursions in the air when visiting the Kimberley.

With a draught of 2.2 metres, approximately 7’2”, the True North is remarkably stable and comfortable on the waters of Western Australia and the Coral Sea.  There are days when you are on the only vessel in sight, a result of the shallow draught that allows for access to remote estuaries and tributaries.

The True North features enhanced levels of comfort and luxury throughout, allowing cruise passengers the opportunity to experience wilderness in surroundings more akin to one of the world’s most exclusive hotels. The 6 dedicated expedition boats (not zodiacs!) allow passengers to experience wilderness in comfort and in small groups. Daily activities include scenic walks, helicopter flights, culture, fishing, snorkelling, picnics, diving, exploring, nature and much, much more!

The purpose built True North is able to explore the upper reaches of shallow river systems – passengers need only step out of their cabins to experience wilderness and, the latest in computer controlled motion stabilizers ensures a comfortable ride.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard!
